Walter L. Szwajkowski

Lieutenant Szwajkowski, assigned to the 35th District, was shot and killed by an armed gunman, refusing to lower his weapon, outside of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, at Allegheny Avenue and Belgrade Street at 7:05am. Lieutenant Szwajkowski was 45 years-old, served with the Department for 22 years, and is survived by his wife and two children.
