Robert S. Hayes
End of Watch: 1993
Police Officer Hayes and his partner, John Marynowitz, assigned to the 35th District, stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation at Limekiln Pike and Andrews Avenue in the West Oak Lane section of the city on June 16, 1993 at approximately 10:25pm. An altercation ensued and one of the occupants was able to gain control over Officer Marynowitzâ€™ revolver, opening fire and striking both officers. Officer Hayes succumbed to his injuries. His partner was permanently disabled as a result of the shooting. Officer Hayes was 46 years-old, served with the Department for 7 years, and is survived by a wife and three children.
